Tips for Game Masters, by Alan De Smet, is an extensive collection of tips that can be applied to most games.
This is some of the best, most thoughtful and most thorough GMing advice I’ve ever read.
If you’ve run into a new GMing situation, see if Alan has covered it here. And if you’re looking for an overview of GMing techniques — or a refresher — it’s a great place to start. (Via DM Haven.)
This is some seriously good advice. Really nice stuff. Can you interview Alan? I would love to find out more about him.
I sent him an email about this post, and didn’t hear back. That doesn’t bode well for an interview, but it might be worth a shot.
He certainly seems prolific, and he writes good stuff.
I liked it too; after a while my eyes glazed, but his style is clear and concise.
Scott: Yeah, the “all at once” approach seems like a bit of an odd choice. On the one hand, it’s there as a great reference, but on the other hand it’s hard to digest in one sitting.
As I see it, that’s one of the pluses of blogging about GMing every day — it breaks things into very manageable chunks.
