The Stew’s fourth system-neutral book for GMs, Odyssey: The Complete Game Master’s Guide to Campaign Management, is now available for preorder!
When you preorder, you’ll immediately receive the PDF (bookmarked, hyperlinked, and DRM-free), EPUB, MOBI, and text versions of the book — weeks before they’re available anywhere else. You’ll be one of the first people on the planet to get a look at Odyssey, and you’ll be able to put it to use in your campaign right away.
The book is already at the printer, and preordered books are expected to ship in early July.
Want to check out the book before you preorder? Making sure you have that option is important to us, so we put together a 19-page PDF sample that includes material from throughout the book.
We also believe it’s important to give you a chance to hear what others think of the book before you preorder, so we sent out prerelease PDFs to a number of reviewers. Here’s what they had to say about the book:
- Critical Hits review — “If you’re planning on running a campaign, you’ll want this book.“
- Gamer: The Blogging review — “After reading Odyssey, I came away feeling better about the mistakes I’ve made over the years, and feeling great about the things I know I’ve done well. I’m really excited to apply my newfound knowledge to future campaigns. This book will be a useful reference whenever I’m between sessions.“
- Stargazer’s World review — “In my opinion Odyssey is a must-have for all newbie and veteran GMs out there who are interested in managing their campaigns better.“
- RPGGeek review — “Having read a lot of “GM guides”, this is easily one of the most useful since its advice is much more practical and useful on a regular basis. As such it’s a book I would recommend to anyone and likely it’ll find it’s way on to my “holiday gift list” for a couple of my GM friends.“
We often get asked questions during our preorders, and we’re always happy to answer them.
When will I get my book?
You’ll get a link to download the digital edition (PDF, EPUB, MOBI, text) as soon as you preorder. The book is at the printer, and we expect to be able to ship out all preorders in early July. The shipping method you choose, as well as your location, will factor into when your copy arrives.
Could things go wrong? Sure, that’s always a risk: our printer might get delayed, or something could happen to the shipment of books. But this is our fourth preorder, and we’ve got “padding” built into the schedule. We’ll ship every book as soon as possible.
What if I want it by Gen Con?
Gen Con runs from August 15-18 this year, over a month after we expect to ship your book. Media Mail is still a bit of a gamble, but probably safe; Priority is almost certainly safe. Internationally, the gods of postal shipping hold sway over your package; you might get it before the con, but I wouldn’t count on it.
Are you giving me a draft copy of the book?
Nope! It’s the full retail version: a bookmarked, hyperlinked, DRM-free PDF plus bonus EPUB, MOBI, and text versions. We don’t open preorders until the book is done.
When will the PDF go on sale on its own?
The standalone PDF will go on sale sometime after preorders end, most likely in July.
Got a question you don’t see answered here?
If you have a question, I’ll be happy to answer it! If not, why not put in your preorder now?
