Merry Christmas from all of us at Gnome Stew!
Merry Christmas gang, from Ireland. Thanks for another year of fantastic articles. Here’s to 2011, and many more after.
I didn’t know Don’s crew were such big Saints fans. It looks like there’s an NFC South rivalry in the Stew pot.
Unfortunately, this is not the year for me to pick a fight. My Carolina Panthers are in no position to brag about anything — unless it’s boasting about draft position.
Utilikilts rock!
It was on my list, but no one was willing to get me one…Maybe I shouldn’t have mentioned that a kilt is worn sans underpants…
Merry yuletide to you all!
Merry Christmas to all the gnomes, great and small, near and far!
@Troy E. Taylor – Greetings from southeast Louisiana, where I was raised. Guess who I’m a fan of, especially since there’s hardly a Texas football team worth cheering this year…
Something tells me we’ll be decorating Gnome Stew’s site in black and gold ….
Is football the one with the sticks that you play on ice?
Nice pictures all! ๐
Don, do you live in New Orleans? I’m from there (though I currently reside in Atlanta) and I would love to meet a Gnome and fellow Saints fan when I visit home. That would be gnometastic!.
@Martin – no, it’s the game played on a field where everyone kicks a white ball with black spots around and the only people that can touch it with their hands are the goalies. ๐
Well, you play football on a field of ice if your indoor stadium has a hole in the roof … but that’s another story.
@RF – No, I don’t live in New Orleans anymore. I grew up there for eleven years. It’s my “home” in every sense of the word.
I’ve been a Saints fan back when Ken Stabler finished his career there, Bum Phillips, Bobby Hebert, Dalton Hillard, and Eric Martin played. We wore bags on our heads for a log time.
So not a bandwagon fan. I cancel gaming to watch Saints games. ๐
And don’t worry about it Troy, the Panthers will get better. The NFL is all about parity now and the NFC South is one tough division!
Famous New Orleans sports announcer Buddy Diliberto once said that he’d wear a dress and parade down Bourbon Street if the Saints ever made the Super Bowl.
Buddy D died in 2005, but former Saints quarterback Bobby Hebert wore a dress and led thousands of men in drag through a crowd of tens of thousands of fans when the Saints made it to the Super Bowl last year. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wO8HMO8_xsM
If you can understand that, you can understand quite a bit about Saints fans… And New Orleans.
I think Scott and Jennifer were showing off for a Christmas photo. That’s not how they usually dress at the Squirrel. ๐
